Describe and infer the dynamics of systems
A few equations are enough to transcribe a trajectory, spatial or abstract, in all its sophistication. But the phenomena studied by engineers are often so complex or poorly understood that it is impossible to reach such a system of equations simply by deducing from physical principles. It is then necessary to resort to other disciplines: optimization, probabilities, signal processing, statistical learning, topology… The approach becomes more or less inductive, from the estimation of closing law parameters (the “calibration” of models), to considering the system as a black box and abandoning any analytical description.
This second Meeting between researchers and engineers will be an opportunity to confront points of view on ways to represent, predict, and even control the behaviour of dynamic systems.
